Leon Software has partnered with Opna to deliver a seamless integration that helps air operators stay fully compliant with CORSIA regulations—simplifying CO₂ emissions reporting and offsetting obligations.

CORSIA Compliance Made Easy: Leon Software and Opna Join Forces

Understanding CORSIA and the April 2025 Reporting Deadline

The Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), introduced by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2016, is a global initiative designed to cap the net carbon emissions of international aviation. The scheme requires operators to offset emissions that exceed 85% of their 2019 baseline by purchasing CORSIA-eligible carbon credits. Now in its First Phase (2024–2026), CORSIA has become mandatory for air operators in 129 participating countries.

A key compliance milestone is approaching: by April 30, 2025, all operators must submit their verified CO₂ emissions reports for the 2024 calendar year to their respective national authorities. To navigate this process efficiently, air operators can benefit from integrated solutions like Opna, which simplify reporting and ensure regulatory readiness.

From Data to Delivery: How Opna Helps Airlines Meet Carbon Goals

Opna operates as an end-to-end carbon procurement and compliance platform, supporting companies within the aviation sector in meeting their climate obligations under frameworks like CORSIA. At its core, Opna enables businesses to access, finance, and manage carbon removal portfolios that are scientifically verified, policy-aligned, and strategically diversified. Air operators can use Opna not just to procure CORSIA-eligible carbon credits, but to develop a strategy that mitigates compliance risk while maximizing long-term climate impact.

The platform is built to lower barriers to entry for carbon offsets, with an option to pool climate budgets, offering buyers of all sizes access to high-integrity projects that would otherwise be available only through large-volume offtakes. By applying a thorough due diligence process, Opna upholds strict assessment standards, ensures transparency, and minimizes investment risk.

All projects are evaluated for verifiable carbon removal, durability, scalability, co-benefits and effective risk management. Opna supports companies in shifting from short-term, spot carbon credit purchases to structured, long-term offtake agreements—essential in a market where demand for high-quality credits is quickly outpacing supply.

Automating Compliance: Behind the Leon–Opna Integration

The integration between Leon Software and Opna enables operators to automatically sync their flight data from Leon’s system into Opna’s regulatory platform. Thanks to Leon Software, all essential operational data is securely digitized within a centralized flight management system. Through its API-driven architecture, Leon supports a wide range of integrations, allowing customers to connect best-in-class tools like Opna within a unified ecosystem. This setup ensures that data required for CORSIA compliance—such as flight segments, fuel burn, and aircraft types—is readily accessible and automatically utilized by the Opna platform.

Once imported, Opna processes the data to generate CORSIA-compliant emissions reports, forecast future offsetting requirements, and identify critical data gaps that could hinder regulatory compliance. These gaps are flagged with clear guidance to help operators resolve them quickly and accurately. Opna also facilitates access to high-quality, CORSIA-eligible carbon removal projects through its end-to-end compliance suite. With this integration, even a single user within an airline can manage the entire compliance process, streamlining workflows and reducing operational overhead.
