Leon & PnrGo introduce the eu-LISA update

The upcoming legal changes on behalf of the eu-LISA’s new regulations add another layer of requirements for air operators, on top of the already existing API-PNR legal framework. In cooperation with our partners at Matic SA, we are introducing an update to the PnrGo integration, covering the latest eu-LISA’s guidelines.

Leon & PnrGo provide a new eu-LISA solution

According to EU regulations, the Entry Exit System (EES) will be launched in September 2022, affecting all air operators in Europe and worldwide and replacing the manual stamping of passports with an electronic record of entries and exits. As a continuation, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will come into effect in May 2023, allowing visa-exempt passengers to have a valid travel authorisation.

What does it mean for Carriers?

Carriers will have the legal obligation to validate the status of their non-EU travellers prior to boarding. In case of the EES system, carriers are requested to verify if a third-country national travelling to the EU with a short-stay, single or double entry visa has already used the number of entries authorised by their travelling document. For the ETIAS programme on the other hand, carriers will have to verify that their visa-exempt passengers have a valid travel authorisation.

The timeframe needed to stay compliant is quite short indeed. The mandatory registration is already open, forcing each carrier to be ready for compliance tests in June 2022. You can read more about the programme at the eu-LISA website.

A toolset for eu-LISA compliance

Together with our partner PnrGo, we have prepared a fully automated solution integrated with the PnrGo platform, ensuring compliance with eu-LISA’s systems. Passenger validation takes place directly through the Leon interface and does not require any action on the operator’s side in case of positive verification. The integrated solution monitors data consistency and notifies operators in advance should any issues occur. As a consequence, the integration reduces to a minimum the amount of manual labour required during flight preparation, as well as human errors resulting from it.

The eu-LISA compliance module adds a new functionality to the already coveted PNR/API integration, available since 2018. For 4 years already air operators using Leon have been utilising the PnrGo platform to deliver PNR and API data worldwide, with over 30 mutual customers currently taking advantage of the efficiency it provides.

The enrolment process with Leon and PnrGo

Getting the integration up and running is as easy as contacting the PnrGo team. From the registration process completion, arranging training sessions, to conducting the appropriate tests, they are ready to provide complete assistance. Once the service is launched, dedicated customer support will become available as well. All this makes the EES/ETIAS enrolment procedure as seamless as possible.
