How beOnd Runs Its Operations with Leon Software

Building a Growing Airline on One Operational Platform

How beOnd Runs Its Operations with Leon Software
Launching an airline requires more than aircraft and routes. It takes a connected operational environment where flight schedules, aircraft assignments, crew rosters, flight planning and operational data work together.

About beOnd

For beOnd, an all-business-class premium leisure airline founded in 2022, Leon Software became that foundation.

In June 2023, as beOnd was establishing its OCC and preparing for its AOC, the airline selected Leon Software to support its operations from the outset. After weeks of training across the system's modules, beOnd received its AOC in August 2023 with Leon Software already at the centre of its operational setup.

Today, beOnd uses Leon to connect its scheduled services and bespoke charter operations, coordinate teams across Dubai and Malé, manage crew and aircraft schedules, and bring operational data together for reporting.

The result: one platform supporting an airline as it grows.

operational backbone

One Platform, Connected Operations

For a fast-growing airline, disconnected systems can create unnecessary manual work and make it harder for teams to stay aligned. beOnd’s approach puts Leon Software at the centre of its operational workflow, with connected modules and in-house tools working around a shared source of operational data.

Integrated Flight Scheduling

Leon brings scheduled rotations and charter flights into the same operational environment. From there, teams can coordinate aircraft assignments, crew rosters, operational requirements and flight planning. Commercial, OCC, crew planning and maintenance teams can work from the same schedule, helping ensure that decisions made in one part of the operation are visible to the others.

For an airline operating both scheduled services and bespoke charters, this shared view is particularly valuable. Every new charter can introduce a different destination, airport data requirements, permits and route considerations.

Crew Management: Operational Limits Built In

Crew scheduling at beOnd is supported by rules based on the airline’s Operations Manual, with FTL validated as rosters are built. Leon Software brings crew duties, standby, simulator sessions, training and days off into a single planning view, alongside aircraft assignments and maintenance information. Teams can draft and test rosters before publishing them, then notify crew members when schedules are released or changed.

This helps the airline coordinate crew planning with the wider operation while keeping essential scheduling constraints visible throughout the process.

The Crew App: Information Wherever the Operation Goes

With Leon Software’s Crew App, beOnd pilots and cabin crew can access their duties, positioning and office assignments from their phones.

Key capabilities include:

  • Roster access: Crew members can view their duties and assignments.
  • Push notifications: Schedule changes can be communicated and acknowledged.
  • Offline access: Crew can access relevant information while down-route, at hotels or in transit.
  • Journey logs: Flight information can be uploaded by crew after the flight.

The result is a more accessible connection between crew members and the operational team, wherever the operation takes them.

Flight Planning and Flight Watch

Leon Software connects scheduling with flight planning and flight watch in beOnd’s daily operational workflow. Schedules feed into the planning process, while flight watch provides visibility of live flight status and movement messages. After the flight, the crew’s journey log adds another layer of operational information to the same environment. This creates continuity across the flight lifecycle, from the initial schedule through execution and post-flight records.

beOnd also uses Leon Software’s API to connect its own flight-planning tools, including access to weather and NOTAM information, operational flight plans and dispatched flights.

Reporting: One Dataset Across the Airline

When operational data is spread across separate systems, building a complete picture of the airline can require additional manual work.

At beOnd, Leon Software brings together information from scheduling, crew rosters, flight watch, sales and journey logs. The reporting tools offer predefined reports as well as a report wizard for building custom outputs, with charts, scheduled distribution and export to business intelligence tools. This shared dataset supports management, OCC, crew planning, commercial and flight operations teams. It also supports regulatory reporting, including CORSIA and ReFuelEU Aviation.

The result is a more consistent reporting foundation, with information drawn from the same operational system rather than assembled independently by each department.

The Workflow

A Connected Workflow, From Schedule to Journey Log

The beOnd operation illustrates how Leon supports the different stages of a flight.

Schedule

A scheduled rotation or charter quote becomes part of the operational plan.

Aircraft

A tail is assigned to the flight.

Crew

Rosters, FTL requirements and qualifications are checked.

Operations

Handling, services and operational messages are coordinated.

Flight Planning

The schedule feeds into the flight-planning process.

Crew Communication

Duties and changes are made available through the Crew App.

Flight Watch

Live status and movement messages provide operational visibility.

Journey Log

Crew upload post-flight information.

Reporting

Data from the preceding stages feeds into reports and analysis.

Each step contributes to the same operational dataset, giving teams a more connected view of the flight and its surrounding activities.

Supporting Growth Across Borders

One Operational Picture for Dubai, Malé and Beyond

beOnd has its operational base in Malé, and its corporate and technical functions in Dubai. Leon Software's web-based environment allows authorised users to access the system according to their permissions without installing a dedicated desktop application. Whether teams are working in the office, at an operational base or travelling, they can access the information relevant to their roles.

This shared environment has supported beOnd's development from a startup establishing its first operational processes to an airline operating six aircraft and serving 46 countries and territories, as described in the conference presentation. The same platform supports its scheduled network and bespoke charter activity, providing a foundation that can evolve as the airline's operational requirements change.

A Platform That Evolves with the Airline

beOnd's experience also highlights the importance of choosing a software partner that understands an airline's stage of development. Rather than selecting a system designed primarily around the needs of a much larger carrier, beOnd chose a platform already used by operators in its environment. Leon Software supported the airline before its first revenue flight, and the system it presented during its initial AOC process remains the platform it uses today.

The relationship continues through operational feedback and development requests. One area identified in the presentation is auto-rostering, with the module undergoing further improvement to support the airline's growing crew base. For beOnd, the value lies not only in the capabilities available today, but also in having a platform and a software partner that can grow with the operation.

key outcomes

The Results: A More Connected Operation

The beOnd case study highlights four key outcomes from its use of Leon Software.

  • Planning efficiency: commercial, OCC, crew planning and maintenance teams work from one schedule, helping coordinate the operation.
  • Improved coordination: teams in Dubai and Malé can access the same flight information, supporting a consistent operational view across locations.
  • Operational visibility: scheduling, flight watch, journey logs and reporting draw on a shared dataset, with reports available for automated distribution.
  • A scalable foundation: the same platform that supported beOnd’s startup phase continues to support its growing fleet and international network.
Leon for Flight Operations

Conclusion

Optimize Your Operations Like beOnd

For beOnd, Leon Software has been more than a scheduling solution. It has provided an operational foundation connecting flight schedules, aircraft assignments, crew management, flight operations, flight planning and reporting.

By bringing these workflows together and providing API access for in-house development, Leon Software helps beOnd maintain a shared operational picture while retaining the flexibility to develop tools around its own requirements.

As the airline continues to grow its network and crew base, the partnership demonstrates the value of choosing a platform that can support both the immediate demands of launching an airline and the evolving needs of an expanding operation.
